AI Seen as Opportunity, Not Threat, Says Bezos in Paris
The VivaTech event held in Paris also featured Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, who refuted concerns of job loss due to artificial intelligence, saying rather that the technology will offer new chances and even lead to a shortage of manpower. This differs from warnings offered by organizations such as the Trades Union Congress in Britain about job displacement and statements from political leaders such as Rishi Sunak about lack of work for youth. The meeting also saw promotion by Bezos of his newest venture of AI for manufacturing called Prometheus and the future space plans of Blue Origin, which he said include building a Moon base. Despite a recent explosion involving a New Glenn rocket by the company, launches should resume before the year ends according to Blue Origin's prediction. Lastly, another highlight was the transition of AI into the physical realm seen through the demonstration of the Unitree robot controlled by a neuro-AI headset.
